To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pride & Prejudice, we are featuring a Jane Austen-inspired bathroom design and remodel in our latest bathroom showcase series. In this project, the client brought to us a personal story that sought timeless luxury and historical reminiscence of the Victorian Era.

With attention to detail and thoughtful design choices, we designed and renovated a space that embodies the elegance of Jane Austen's era while incorporating modern comfort and conveniences. In fact, every detail in this bathroom was selected to transport the homeowner to a time of graceful living and literary charm.

Tiles

The foundation of this literary-inspired sanctuary begins with our thoughtfully selected tilework. We chose hexagonal floor tiles for both bathroom and shower spaces, complemented by rectangular matte Taupe wall tiles.

Additionally, the design and remodel process incorporated specialized grout for both floor and walls, along with Schluter strips in satin nickel to provide elegant transitions between surfaces. The artistic centerpiece features Art Gallery by Paula Purroy Lily Multicolor artisan décor matte porcelain tiles, adding sophisticated visual interest to the space.

All these elements blend seamlessly to deliver an outstanding collection of tiles that enhance the bathroom's character and evoke romanticism.

Lighting

Vanity and Cabinets

To continue the cohesiveness in natural earth tones of this bathroom, we also carefully selected the bathroom’s cabinetry.

Featuring the Napa 60” Single Bowl Open Shelf Vanity Sonoma Sand, these cabinets not only help further define the aesthetic but also bring utility to the space with ample storage for all the morning and evening essentials.
Having enough storage in a bathroom is important to meet the needs of the everyday.

Countertops

Continuing our journey through refined elegance, we selected countertops that would complement the literary aesthetic while providing lasting beauty. The best option in the case of this remodel was to have a Jane Austen style vanity top, ledge, curb, and niche.

The selection included installation, along with a wall-mounted faucet, Daltile Valor Gold polished, and a 12” splash with custom scalloped backsplash at the vanity. To preserve the character of an existing piece within the home, the client provided a vessel sink.

Hardware used

The smallest accessories and details contribute to bringing this bathroom to life. In fact, in order to get it perfect, the client and Hermitage Kitchen Gallery (HKG) team focused on every element of this bathroom in the finest details.

Some of the hardware selected included a Contempo II Open Front Toilet Paper Holder, a Contempo II double robe hook, and Contempo II towel ring. These were necessary to add further functionality to the bathroom for comfort and convenience.

Plumbing

The plumbing system and components on this project are what created a romantic spa-like escapism that makes the everyday very agreeable. More specifically, this project required some intricate plumbing details throughout including a wall faucet; rain shower head; a brass hose and power spray handshower; and a roman tub.
